Where two rivers meet the hills
Blue water, green hills and red-earth roads. The Kangsabati and Kumari rivers meet here behind one of India’s largest earthen dams.
Overview
About 55 km from Bankura town, Mukutmanipur sits where the Kangsabati and Kumari rivers join. The Kangsabati Dam holds them back into a wide blue lake, ringed by low hills and sal forest, with small islands scattered across the water.
Walk or cycle along the dam road, take a boat to the deer park island, climb Pareshnath hill for the view, and stay for a sunset that turns the whole lake orange.

Forest escape · short drive away
Pair your lake stay with a day in the forest. Jhilimili’s red-earth roads wind through sal and mahua to viewpoints over the Kangsabati valley, and Sutan hides a quiet forest lake with a watchtower.
